Dear All,
All those who have served at, or visited, RAF Boulmer, will wish to be aware that Mr Alan Clark has decided to hang up his boots as the Officers’ Mess Manager here at Boulmer, after a total of 43 years service in the RAF, as a civil servant and, most recently, leading the transition to contract catering with ISS. We will miss his attention to detail, wise counsel and strong support to the Mess which makes it such a comfortable and agreeable place to be. As the PMC noted in his farewell speech, there are also a few ABM/FC officers – some of them quite senior and quite possibly some now retired - who have reason to be grateful to Mr Clark for his discretion and good judgement, following misdemeanours various over the years!
In typical Mr Clark fashion, he did not want to make a fuss, so handed in his notice last Monday, with last Friday as his last day at work, thereby not giving us much time to get a proper farewell organised! The PMC, Sqn Ldr Rob Machin, presented Alan with a bottle of vintage port to mark his retirement, with members of the Mess and other stn personnel in attendance to see him off. Thanks are also due to 1ACC for taking TACON of QRA(I) to allow us to release people from ops to attend!
