URGENT: BBC Coast looking for WWII Radar Veterans

BBC Coast is looking for British ' WWII radar veterans' who have experience of radar in France or Germany to travel to the Wurzburg radar site/Museum in Douvres during the first week of October (travel etc paid by the BBC):

The Wurzburg Radar: satellite dishes had a range of around 30 km. And were extremely accurate for measuring angels for the height of incoming aircraft. The base had about 258 men and women when in full use and was a very important base in the Atlantic Wall of Defence and was bombed by the Royal Air force as it was a big threat to Operation Overlord the DDay invasion in 1944. After the war the British took it back to Britain to study it and then returned it to be used as a Radio Telescope between (Bourges and Orleans). It was sent back to Douvres for the 50th anniversary of the Landings and now is a Museum open to the public.

There was also an early interest in people who could explain 'Window' in a WWII context.

If you think you've got something to offer and fancy a trip to France courtesy of the BBC, you may wish to contact the BBC Researcher:
