Although he was not a member of the Association, many in the Fighter Control world will remember Sam Small, who has died aged 87. The full announcement from The Telegraph yesterday was:
    SMALL
    Flt Lt Wilfrid "Sam" DFC RAF Rtd / Sqdn Ldr SOAF Rtd. Ex 166 Squadron RAF. Peacefully after a short illness on 27th February 2011 aged 87 years. Much loved father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Funeral 17th March, 12.30 p.m., at St Faith's Crematorium, Norwich. Flowers / donations (RAF Benevolent Fund) c/o John Brown F/D, 102 North Walsham Road, Norwich.

Although I hadn't seen Sam for many years I'm glad to have known him. Always a twinkle in his eye and a great sense of humour. He had a commonsense approach to life and to authority. The Branch has lost part of its' history..
