Tony asked me to place a message on the Association website to allow people to share their thoughts, memories and expressions of love and support whilst Maggie is still with us:
Maggie has very recently been diagnosed with kidney failure and regrettably the condition is now regarded as terminal and she is expected to slip away in a couple of days.  She is in Northallerton Hospital and is being made as comfortable as possible.  Thankfully she is not in any pain and spends most of the time sleeping.  Tony is being very well supported by close friends and has asked that he is allowed to focus entirely on Maggie for the next few days - he would welcome messages of support on this website but has asked people not to call or send cards at this time.
Sorry to be the bearer of such devastating news.

Plez,

So very sorry to hear the news that such a bubbly, charming, witty and generous person that Maggie is has been hit so hard with such a devastating condition. Anyone who has had the pleasure and privilege to work, socialise and spend time with her in her many Service and civilian roles knows what a rock she has been. Thinking of you both.

Plez....I have no words to express my sadness for you, lovely man.
To Maggie, thank you being such a funny, beautiful and warm friend to me over the years. I'll always remember with fondness the nights spent trying to decipher your 'scribble' speak! With much love Jaci x

It is impossible to believe that the lovely, lively lady I saw before Christmas is so close to losing this final battle and slipping away. My heart goes out to you and - as you will note from the other messages here - you have the support and sympathy of all your friends. My thoughts are with you both.

Catherine and my thoughts are with you at this dreadful time.  We take small comfort in knowing that Maggie is in no pain and that you are with her.

Plez,
We are both extremely shocked and saddened by the news of Maggie's condition.  Only three weeks ago Pauline was discussing with Maggie our plans to visit in the summer.  We are continually thinking of you during this distressing time. Love from Ian and Pauline in Germany.

Dear Plez, very shocked and saddened to hear the news about Maggie.  Maggie is one very special lady who touched the hearts of all she met  with her welcoming, caring manner and witty sense of humour. It is a privilege to  know Maggie and to have enjoyed the company of you both. Just thinking back over the years conjures up some very warm memories.  You are both in my thoughts at this difficult time.

with love, Angie

Plez, so sad to hear this devastating news - I can only echo Jaci's sentiments about remembering fabulous times with you and Maggie - you were both the life and soul at our wedding and my only wish we'd had the opportunity to see more of you both. At least you are with her now - much love, Makkers

Maggie - from the moment I met you, you became my inspiration, mentor and role model.  Your irrepressible optimism, strength of character, kindness and buckets of fun make you stand out in any crowd!  I know that I'm devastated by your news as the tears are never far away but strangely the fire in my belly and heart has never burned brighter - you will never be forgotten and I will make you proud.  However, I'm guessing that the only thing that you want to hear right now is that your beloved Tony will never want for the company and care of close and loving friends - Ninja and I make you that promise now but I'm guessing that we're just joining a very long queue of people who also love and admire you both and treasure your friendship.
Sleep peacefully special lady x

Plez,
Den and I were devasted when we heard the news a short while ago and its so hard to find the right words.  Maggie was always so full of life and memories of the times we were all together bring happy memories flooding back - who could ever forget those wonderful summer BBQs?  Please give Maggie a big kiss from all of us.

Plez, Maggie, my heart goes out to you both and my thoughts are with you.  Maggie, I remember when I first met you at RAF Leeming.  You were always willing to give your time to help a clueless junior officer try to avoid the pitfalls of community relations and, as guardian of the 'giz-it' cupboard, a saviour to those of us who found themselves in need of a last minute gift! Short in stature maybe, but always larger than life; the hostess with the mostest; a culinary genius and one of the nicest people I've had the pleasure to meet and the priveldge to call a friend.  Rest easy now and know you are much loved.  Ninja

Tony, shocked to hear the news about Maggie this morning.
Not the way I wanted to start the day. My thoughts, condolences and memories are with you, and over the years, you have both been in my thoughts, although contact has been iffy. I often re-run Wifeski '85 and will do so later.
Regards and regrets,
Peter.

Dreadful news. Maggie was OC Admin while I was a controller at Buchan in the early 70s.  She was very kind and patient with me whilst I was being a prat.  She was one of the best.  Tony, it's many years since I've seen you, but my thoughts are with you mate.
